"Just as ripples spread out when a single pebble is dropped into water, the actions of individuals can have far-reaching effects." -HH Dalai Lama
The project will continue into the coming months.

"This is a story of #gratitude. Dona Maria is a widowed woman from Guatemala who lives with her son and his family. She had a cataract and 2 months ago had the surgery. She now helps her son with his business selling popsicles, corn and other things. Now that she can see, she can handle money and help sell. Her surgery was a ripple of empowerment. #RippleEffect #StoryofGratitude" |
"We were honored to once again team up with our friends at The Jerry Garcia Foundation to support their social media campaign #RippleEffect#StoriesofGratitude. Our Reef Relief team is so grateful to have our Coral Camp interns Lindsey, Sammi, and Dani and we witness them expressing kindness and patience each and every day they spend with our campers while passing on our dedication to improve and protect our coral reef ecosystem. Watch a video of these ladies having fun at camp and creating some ripples of their own!#PFCF #JGF #RippleEffect #StoriesofGratitude" Reef Relief

"Vacaville state prisoners donated to DrawBridge - An Arts Program for Homeless Children and also sponsored an annual art group! #PFCF #JGF#RippleEffect#StoriesofGratitude"
"I recently went to the Vacaville State Prison. DrawBridge had been invited there to receive a donation from a group of prisoners. The group is called POP - Prisoner Outreach Program - and they raise funds to donate to nonprofit groups by selling food to other prisoners at increased prices. All the prisoners know the purpose of the sale; they have it quarterly, then choose three nonprofits with whom to share the proceeds. I met with the prisoners, heard some of their stories, and received their gift. Some of them had been in prison for decades, yet they were raising money to help improve the lives of youth they felt compelled to support. The check was for nearly $8000 - more than enough to underwrite an entire DrawBridge art group for a year. I was awed at their generous spirit and desire to help others - a ripple that will be felt by many children; a gentle wave that steers them towards a more positive course." |
